Choreographer/Artist:
Michael D. Lee finished their Master of Fine Arts in Dance Choreography at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. With focuses on M own queer journey, M correlates their own experience with the LGBT History and Movement. After completing their Bachelor of Science at Bowling Green State University in Ohio M attended the Joe Goode workshop in 2011, and participated in an internship with the Mam-Luft & Co. Dance Company. While at Graduate School, Michael was able to become a Teaching Assistant for the school and received a Summer Assistance Fund to attend the Jump Rhythm Jazz Project's summer Intensive of 2014. Lastly M received funding for their M.F.A. Thesis by two groups: The Kristina Larson Fund and The Women and Gender Studies Cone Award Special Projects Grant. Big thanks to all those involved in creating this Concert and funding it so that it is free to the public.
After living in the Bay Area for 5 years, Michael now lives in the Portland, OR creating work on the side and bringing dance to everyday tasks. As an artist Michael also creates Resin jewelry, clothes, cross-stitch and much more.
Diversity Equity & Inclusion Advocate:
LACN Round Table Discussion on support Indigenious Populations, 2021-2022. Co-leader researching topics, connecting to employers and higher education speakers, and facilitating conversation for a national audience on Land Acknowledgements as a start to assist Indigenious populations.
Career Center DEI Working Group, 2021-Present. Lead conversations on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion topics for a team of 5, including Image Descriptions, History of Lewis & Clark from an Indigenious perspective, History of the College’s name, Intersectionality and Gender Identity.
BIPOC Social, 2022. Working with Dr. Robin Holms-Sullivan and Natasha Richmond J.D., M.S.W by finding musicians, facilitating prizes (gift cards to local Black Owned businesses), and setting up the event.
Art for Social Change, 2021-Present. Member, facilitator, Notetaker, and timekeeper to discuss current events and focused topics like structure of meetings and Land Acknowledgments.
Equity Working Group, 2018-2021. Co-founder, facilitator, and lead organizer for groups ranging 5-30, discussing Land Acknowledgements, Reparations, Pronouns, and more. Created a committee to discuss, vote, research and develop gender neutral bathroom signs.

Current Work:
Michael currently work with Metro as the Equity Program Manager for the Waste Prevention and Environmental Services Department. They spend their time connecting creating art.
